German term

Seegrund

German to English Marketing Tourism & Travel
This term appears in an advertisement for a holiday house near a lake in the following sentence:

The typical translation I have found for 'Seegrund' is 'lake floor' or 'lake bottom' but this does not seem to quite fit the context.
Change log

Jul 5, 2010 10:49: Steffen Walter changed "Field" from "Bus/Financial" to "Marketing"

Discussion

Bernd Runge Jul 5, 2010:

a lakeside bathing area

Certainy common here in Austria for holiday houses to have a private little area for bathing right beside the lake

lakeside area

This seems to be a (small?) plot of land directly by the lake ("Seegrundstück").

agree Reinhold Wehrmann : Sorry Steffen! Mein agree eben war eigentlich DIR gedacht - falsches Kästchen angeklickt!

WÖRTHERSEE - modern house - lake view and private access to the lake

Badesteg aufgewertet.

Avoids specifying private beach, mooring, all of which it may include, but it could just have a garden runnng down to the lake
Peer comment(s):

agree Debbi Steele : Sounds the most natural

disagree Reinhold Wehrmann : Sorry, but the term "Seegrund" does not refer "private access" at all!

And yet you've agreed with Lesley who suggests a private bathing area?! I don't see the difference...
