Adoption
This is in a letter from a lawyer to a client seeking to adopt his spouse's child.
"Cette adoption ne nécessite ni agrément, ni durée d’accueil, ni placement".
I'm rather stuck on how to translate durée d'accueil here as I don't know much about adoption procedures in detail.
Based on the official English translation of Article 375-9 the French Code Civil, where établissement d'accueil has been translated as 'receiving institution', I thought of 'reception period' but I'm not sure it would be correct here. I also thought of 'fostering', but again I'm not sure it's appropriate.
If anyone knows the correct adoption terminology I'd be very grateful.

post-placement supervision period
Here it is referred to as such: http://www.adoptionstogether.org/Adopting/AdoptanOlderChild/... Your article seems to speak about fostering, not adoption which does not require such a period, but, maybe, follow-up

: After the legal adoption of a child, there is usually a short period of time (usually 3 months) before the final legal process is ended. During that period of time, controls are made by due authorities to see if everything is going well & child is ok.

Note from asker:
Thanks for your help, 'prior custody period' could have been an option, but in the end I preferred 'post-placement supervision period'. |
