Italian term

QP

Italian to English Tech/Engineering Medical: Pharmaceuticals
It is an Inspection Report:

A partire dal mese di aprile 2018, la mansione di QP è svolta dalla dottoressa Laura Bigini; seconda QP sono la dottoressa Lucia Verdelli ed il dottor Edoardo Ambrogio Gianolli.

Does anyone know what QP stands for?

thanks!

Discussion

Joseph Tein Oct 28, 2019:
confidentiality To be absolutely correct about maintaining your client's confidentiality, you should not use real names in a question. "La Dottoressa [xxx]" is sufficient information, since your question is about an abbreviation.

I always omit dates and real people's names, certainly drug company names, and I even change laboratory values slightly and may change a patient's gender, in order to make it impossible to identify a patient or the company paying for the research. Occasionally, to be certain about the meaning of a term, it's necessary to mention a specific hospital where an acronym originates.

Qualified Person

This is one possibility ... it depends on the context.

Here is a link to an online article titled "The positioning of the Qualified Person (QP) within the organisation"

Another online example, from within the pharmaceutical industry, discussing QPs :

"Our Qualified Persons (QPs) and support teams are experienced and have extensive knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry. Pharmaceutical products imported from the so-called third countries are re-analysed in our laboratory and our QPs can certify batches before they are released to the EU market."

So ... if this does indeed stand for Qualified Person, you can just leave QP in your translation. The appropriate professional English readers should know what that means, given the pharmaceutical context of your file.
