Enseignement d'option fléchée
In the transcript of the first-year of a Bachelor's Degree in English one of the subjects is "Enseignement d'option fléchée".
I'm not exactly sure what this means here to or how to translate it.
I gather it *might* refer to the fact that the optional subject can only be chosen from a limited number of possibilities, but I'd like confirmation if anybody has already come across the term.
FWIW, the university is in (mainland) France and the target is US English.

Slide 18 describes of the Aix-Marseille presentation describes what they mean by option fléchée.
I think it would correspond to "guided elective" in US English, as these are not just random options, they are from a list of options "recommended" by the department as far as I can tell.

In the linked document (and many others I've seen) we have a course outline talking about the courses for le tronc disciplinaire (the courses directly applying to one's major) and l'option fléchée (courses that are also required, but are still related). At first I was going to suggest "electives", but that seems to be a third category. Les options fléchées are definitely not just for fun (as an electrive might be) and have prerequisites. Therefore, I suggest "secondary courses," since the French education system is simply different from that in the US.

(I'm not from the US, but this seems to be a similar concept?)
In the reference document, classes for people from another department will presumably require less background knowledge. The classes that can be taken instead of the option fléchée are to consolidate the student's knowledge of their main course (major).
It's an elective.
