French to English Tech/Engineering Transport / Transportation / Shipping text about insurance appraisal
This part of the text relates to determining a cost for the various elements of an underground/metro system - the "determination d'un ratio specifique pour chaque type de voie". It states that "on distingue deux types de voies: voie Fer et voie Pneu". I can only find translations such as "Rail track" and "Tire or Tyre track" but this does not seem convincing. Can anyone help please?

Yes, when the first line of "métro sur pneus" started operating, the difference compared to the "old style" métro was astonishing - very smooth ride, and "zen silence" compared to the infernal sounds of the "normal" métro.

I believe Paris was the first to use rubber tyres: I was quite impressed when I first travelled on the Elysée line in the '60s - much more comfortable than some of the London lines at that time.

Thanks. Tyres are usually made of rubber, so I think that word can be omitted, as it is in the French.
