I have translated quite a lot of fashion texts, and the customers always wanted me to write fake fur instead of any translation into Danish.
When I buy new riding pants they are always with "syntetisk ruskind".

another suggestion - I would prefer "imiteret ruskind" - not "kunstig"

: Yes, I guess you are right about "imiteret ruskind", but "imiteret skind" does not mean fur, it means leather.

Det hedder egentlig kunstpels i et ord, det står i Retskrivningsordbogen. Kunstig pels er ikke forkert, for alle vil vide, hvad man mener, men der findes altså et specielt ord for det.

'Kunstpels' is a word we use, when we talk about fake fur. If it is a fashion text I think it is 'fake fur' and 'imiteret ruskind'. I agree with Jeanette and disagree with myself!
