French term

groupes consolidés par les tour-opérateurs

French to English Marketing Tourism & Travel Travel agents area of airline website
More from the travel agents' area of an airline website, this section on group bookings.

"X est une destination idéale pour les groupes et incentives, ainsi que pour les groupes consolidés par les tour-opérateurs et l’hôtellerie flottante."

I would appreciate any help on what is meant by "groupes consolidés par les tour-opérateurs" and how to express it in English.

Thanks!

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

packages/inclusive tours

I know the literal meaning is "groups consolidated by tour operators", but I don't think we'd say that (or anything like it) in English. Also, they've already mentioned groups, so it would be repetition. It basically means packages or inclusive tours, ie including travel and accommodation.
Peer comment(s):

neutral Sheri P : Not confident this truly represents the meaning of the ST. IMO, there's a substantive diff. between "X is an ideal destination for groups [VERB-ed] by tour operators" and "X is an ideal destination for packages."

Like i said, if you do anything approaching a literal translation, it sounds odd. You have to produce something that you might read on an English website.
agree mill2 : package tours

agree Marian Vieyra : Agree with package tours.

neutral rkillings : Where did the 'package' assumption come from? Wouldn't they want the business of 'bespoke travel' operators who *don't* offer package tours? e.g. http://www.linkedin.com/company/bespoke-beijing

The company you've linked to is providing packages - it's organising travel and accommodation for people who prefer not to do it themselves. It can be for one person or 50, but here it's talking about "groupes consolidés", ie larger numbers of people.

some groups are just groups, some are led by tour operators

groups organized by tour operators

This sounds the most idiomatic to me.

Organized Tours
The advantages of traveling with an organized group are plentiful, especially for travelers who have limited time and enjoy the security of knowing in advance how each day will look. Tour operators take the headache out of planning a trip and can help transcend any cultural and linguistic barriers...
