My name is Merethe, and I work full-time as a freelance
translator and virtual assistant.

I have extensive experience in administration,
management, HR and HSEQ work from bilingual maritime businesses. I benefit from
this experience in my work in offering language and administration services to
companies in Norway and agencies around the world. My native language is
Norwegian (both Nynorsk and Bokmal), and I do translations from English, Danish
and Swedish.

I learned to read and write before I started school by hanging
over the shoulders of my older brother struggling with his homework. Norwegian
and English were my favourite subjects, and I often visited an old lady who had
a small library in her house in the little village I grew up in.

My experience
is mainly from bilingual maritime businesses in Norway in positions such as
Crew Coordinator, Crewing Manager, Administration Officer, Chief Administration
Officer and General Manager. I have used English as a second business language
for over 25 years and worked with people from many nations.

When I am not
working, I enjoy spending time with my family. I am married to a trawler
captain, and we have three sons, three daughters-in-law (all nurses - good for
our elderly days...), and four grandchildren. My hobbies are knitting and
baking, and I also love hiking in the mountains where I live on the west coast
of Norway.
