This is an instruction manual for a combat-type video game involving superheroes and mutants. PV refers to something like ‘lifeline’ or ‘life points’ but I’d be more comfortable knowing what PV literally stands for here in French.-- “PV : représente la santé du mutant. S’il perd plus de 20% de ses PV durant un combat, le mutant est retiré du combat et renvoyé dans la base de son propriétaire. Si ses PV tombent à 0 il est placé à la morgue.” – “L’indication des PV du mutant, séparé en 5 « sous-barre » représentants les seuils auxquels le mutant sera mis hors de combat [referring to a 5-segment horizontal bar at the bottom of the each mutant’s window]” --- “Si les dégâts sont supérieurs à la défense, le reste est déduit des PV du mutant ciblé” --- “Si la défense est supérieure, rien n’arrive aux PV du défenseur” --- etc

It was tough to award a winner here as they're both roughly right and, literally, PV is Points de Vie but given the way it's used in the user guide for the game it actually means 'health points' (HP) - or possibly Life Points though in English game-speak HP is more prevalent I believe.
