French term

arbre à corseterie

French to English Marketing Textiles / Clothing / Fashion
This is followed by a list of the items of underwear to be displayed on the said 'tree'. Other than a display stand has anyone come across a more specific term in this context?

Discussion

Jane Phillips (asker) Jul 18, 2015:
No image I'm afraid but this is in addition to the mannequins, bustes and fessiers. So definitely some sort of display stand with branches. It is supposed to display 2 different bras, 3 different pants/knickers, whether on hangers or not is not mentioned.
Yvonne Gallagher Jul 18, 2015:
are several items to be displayed on the one "tree" or is this a corset or bra/knickers to be displayed on an individual mannequin or bust? I suppose you don't have an image? Nothing much shows up on Google images for this...
If several items are to be displayed then I think "display stand" is probably best...

lingerie display stand

I really think the "tree" part is just that it's multi-branched like this

(if it's about corsets then corseterie could be used instead of lingerie)

I suppose if you're sure it's a "tree" you could say "lingerie display tree" and it would be understandable as well. Some of these could conceivably have lingerie draped over them/hanging from them

Many thanks!!

agree Nikki Scott-Despaigne : I think this is probably the best, and most obvious solution, the only "hic" being that it doesn't convey the multi-branched aspect. Still seems the monst natural choice though.

Thnks Nikki. I just couldn't find "lingerie/corseterie" and "tree" together as collocation...

corset stand

Peer comment(s):

neutral Nikki Scott-Despaigne : "corset stand" is quite general. They do of course exist and the images on your link are almost exclusively for mannequins. Not convinced that this conveys the specific idea of the "arbre" in the original. Add "tree" and the results are closer. See below.

like a hat tree stand ? the corset stand does not look like a tree

agree mchd : quelque chose avec "lingerie" ???

It had crossed my mind that "lignerie" might be meant, but as the original specifies "corseterie" and not "lingerie"...
neutral Yvonne Gallagher : but none of these "trees" are for displaying lingerie/corseterie? They're mostly jewellery stands here (or hat/coat).

They are, certainly, which is where this suggestion falls short. However, it may work for the specific context described by the Asker. If this is for "lingerie", which the list following suggests, then your suggestion is better by far and away.

Le terme "lingerie" me semble mieux approprié, "corset" fait un peu désuet.
