Creating a translation memory is quick and easy with SDL Trados Studio. Whether you are producing a brand new translation memory, re-using an existing translation memory or generating one from a Microsoft Word document, we’ll show you how.

With a degree in Applied Computational Linguistics from Dublin City University, Tracey Byrne has been contributing significantly to the localization industry for the past 15 years. Initially working as a localization engineer in international organizations such as Berlitz and Corel, Tracey moved to TRADOS Ireland, where she worked in client-facing roles within Training, Support, and Sales Consultancy. In 2005, Tracey joined SDL International as Worldwide Training Manager of SDL TRADOS Technologies. She currently holds the position of Business Consultant, where she provides technical consultancy to our European sales and marketing teams. Throughout her career, Tracey has developed extensive knowledge of SDL Trados localization technologies, as well as other industry tools, and therefore is able to offer clients the benefit of her vast experience across the localization supply chain.

Joint ventures with dictionary editors badly needed, I think. May 17, 2012

I hope SDL intends to create joint ventures with dictionary editors (www.lerobert.com, www.vandale.com, etc.) so that these would create ready-to-use dictionaries in Termbase form. I am spending my life copying dictionaries into Multiterm Termbases and have never translated as slowly as with Trados Studio. Would other translators be ready to buy such products? (please discuss here)

Hi Isabelle,
I fully agree with you - it would be really helpful to gain access to professional dictionaries in termbase format, rather than having translators (like me) build such termbases on an individual basis. Same applies for AutoSuggest Termbases..

I know some people are selling already-made translation bases on different issues
