Norwegian term

sjeg

Norwegian to English Science Zoology birds, antarctic
A name for a bird. The writer is terrible at spelling, so he often writes phonetically.
Ship captain from 1900, speaking riksmaal - but it could easily be a Swedish or Danish term (or even an attempt at English!).
I thought of skjeggefamilien, Capitonidae, but they do not exist in Antarctic regions.
Any ideas?

Pretty sure it must be shag I've been to Antarctica and seen the blue-eyed shag for myself!

I googled "fugler i antartica". https://www.google.no/?gws_rd=ssl#q=fugler i antartica
Maybe he means this one: Antarctic Shag, but it's anyone's guess really.
